Terms of service
The agreement between DebugGo and the people and companies who use it, in plain language.
Last updated: 2 November 2026
1. The agreement
These terms are a contract between DebugGo, run by its founder as a sole proprietor (an individual, not a registered company) based in California, United States ("DebugGo", "we"), and the person or organization that creates an account or installs the widget ("you"). By creating an account, installing the widget or using the service you accept them. If you accept on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it.
The data processing agreement and the privacy policy are part of these terms. If a separate signed agreement exists between us, it prevails over this page where they conflict.
DebugGo is run by one person, not a company with a legal department. These terms are written in plain language so you can read them without a lawyer. They are still a binding contract.
2. The service
DebugGo provides an embeddable widget that lets a website's visitors or an invited team send feedback, bug reports and on-page review comments; a dashboard to manage them; an agent API and command-line tool; and optional integrations such as creating GitHub issues and sending email digests. What the widget collects, and when, is described in the widget data sheet, which we keep in step with the software.
We may improve, add to or change features over time. If a change removes something material from your plan, we tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 and provide accurate account details.
- You are responsible for everything done under your account, for keeping your sign-in details, secret keys and review links confidential, and for the people you invite to your organization.
- Tell us promptly at security@debuggo.dev if you believe an account, key or link has been compromised. Secret keys and review links can be revoked from the dashboard at any time.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to collect data you have no right to collect, or in breach of any law that applies to you or your visitors;
- install the widget on a site you do not control or do not have permission to instrument;
- attempt to access another customer's data, to probe or disrupt the service, or to bypass rate limits or security measures;
- submit malware, spam, or content that is unlawful, infringing, or abusive, or use the widget to harass anyone;
- resell the service or present it as your own without a written agreement with us;
- use the service to build a competing product by copying its features, or to train a model on data belonging to other customers;
- crawl, scrape, index or bulk-download any part of the service (the website, the docs, the dashboard, review pages, widget files or API responses), or access it with bots, scripts or other automated means, except through the documented agent API with a secret key for your own project and within its rate limits;
- use a project key or review link that is not yours, submit feedback to a project you were not invited to, or send fake, automated or bulk submissions;
- flood the service with requests, probe it for weaknesses, or test its security without written permission, beyond the responsible-disclosure rules on the security page.
If you breach this section we may, without notice where the breach threatens other customers or the service: throttle or block the traffic, IP addresses, keys or review links involved; remove the content; suspend or close the account or project; refuse future accounts; and report unlawful activity to the authorities. Fees already paid are not refunded in that case, and you reimburse the reasonable costs we incur dealing with the abuse.
5. Installing the widget on your site
You decide where the widget runs, which mode it runs in and which options it uses. Because of that, you are responsible for the following, and we rely on you for them:
- Tell your visitors. Your privacy policy must disclose that you use DebugGo as a processor and what it collects. We publish paste-ready text that matches the product.
- Get consent where your law requires it. In a team-only install, visitors never contact DebugGo and no consent is needed. In an "everyone" install the widget script is loaded from our servers for every visitor; where the law that applies to your visitors requires consent for that, or for console and network capture, you obtain it before the widget loads or captures. The consent page shows how to do both.
- Do not collect special-category data. Do not use the widget to collect health, biometric, genetic, racial or ethnic, political, religious, trade-union, sex-life or sexual-orientation data, criminal data, payment card numbers or government identifiers, and do not install an "everyone" widget on pages where your own application writes such data to the browser console.
- Children. Do not install the widget on a service directed at children unless you have a lawful basis for the data it would collect and you have told us in writing.
- Review links. Anyone with a review link can read and post the project's review comments. Share links only with people who should see them, and disable them when a review ends.
- Self-hosted copies. If you serve the widget from your own domain, you keep the copy current. We are not responsible for problems caused by an outdated or modified copy.
6. Your data and data protection
Everything submitted through your installation of the widget, your dashboard and your keys is your data. You own it, you decide what happens to it, and we process it only to provide the service and on your instructions, as the data processing agreement sets out. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to train models.
You can export your data through the agent API and the CLI and delete any submission permanently at any time. Diagnostics are deleted automatically after the retention period you set, 30 days by default.
We may use aggregate, de-identified service metrics (for example, the number of reports submitted across all customers) to run and improve the service, provided they cannot be traced to you or to any person.
7. Fees and billing
- Plan prices and limits are shown on the pricing page at the time you subscribe. The free plan costs nothing and has the limits shown there.
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly as you choose, through Stripe. Where a plan offers a trial, you are not charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel before then at no cost.
- Fees exclude taxes. Where we must collect VAT, sales tax or similar, we add it to the invoice.
- If a charge fails, we retry and notify you. If it still fails after 14 days, we may downgrade the account to the free plan; your data is not deleted by a downgrade, but features above the free limits stop.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next billing period after the notice period; you can cancel before then.
- Fees already paid are not refunded except where these terms say so or the law requires it.
8. Term, termination and data return
These terms apply for as long as you have an account. You can cancel a paid plan from the billing settings at any time; it ends at the close of the paid period. You can close your account by writing to support@debuggo.dev.
We may terminate these terms with 30 days' notice, or immediately if you materially breach them, if we must by law, or if we discontinue the service, in which case we refund any prepaid fees for the unused period.
Data return and deletion. For 30 days after termination you can still export your data. After that, or sooner if you ask, we delete it within 30 days, except for copies in backups that expire on their own schedule and records we must keep by law. The data processing agreement describes this in more detail.
9. Intellectual property
We own the service, the widget, the documentation and our marks. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them under these terms, including the right to embed the widget on sites you control and to self-host unmodified copies of the widget files. You may not remove notices from the widget or present it as your own.
You own your data. If you send us suggestions about the service, we may use them without obligation to you.
10. Third-party services
The service depends on the providers listed on the sub-processors page. Integrations you choose to connect, such as GitHub, are governed by those providers' terms as well as these. We are not responsible for a third-party service's availability or for changes it makes to its API, though we will do our reasonable best to keep integrations working.
11. Warranties and disclaimers
We will provide the service with reasonable skill and care and in line with its documentation. Beyond that, the service is provided "as is": we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will catch every bug on your site, or that redaction will remove every piece of personal data your own application writes to its console.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude every other warranty, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Where the law where you live does not allow a warranty to be excluded, it is limited to the shortest period and the smallest remedy that law allows.
DebugGo is a small, independently run service. Use it for feedback and bug reports, keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose, and do not use it as a system of record or for anything where downtime or data loss would cause serious harm.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for lost profits, revenue, business, data or goodwill, however it arises, even if we were told it was possible;
- our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the event that gave rise to the first claim, or US$100 if you paid nothing;
- nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything the law does not allow to be limited.
These limits reflect the price of the service and the fact that you, not we, control where the widget runs and what your site sends to it.
13. Indemnity
You will defend us and pay any damages, costs and reasonable legal fees from a third-party claim (including a claim by a visitor to your site or a regulator) that arises from: installing or running the widget without the notices, consents or settings section 5 requires; content submitted through your projects; your breach of section 4; or your use of the service in breach of a law that applies to you. We will tell you about such a claim promptly, let you control its defence, and help reasonably at your cost; you may not settle it in a way that admits fault on our behalf or puts obligations on us without our written consent.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts located in San Diego County, California have exclusive jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection you have where you live. Before starting any claim, each party agrees to write to the other and try to resolve the matter for 30 days.
Any claim relating to the service must be brought within one year of the event that gave rise to it, or it is barred where the law allows that. Each party brings claims only in its own name and not as a plaintiff or class member in a class or representative action.
15. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. For changes that reduce your rights or add obligations, we email account owners at least 30 days before they take effect, and you may close your account before then. For other changes we update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
16. General
- These terms, the data processing agreement and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
- If a clause is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- Neither party is liable for delay caused by events outside its reasonable control.
- You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor of the business, with notice.
- Notices to you go to your account email; notices to us go to the address in section 17.
